Border Gateway Protocol is an inter-autonomous inter-domain routing protocol used to exchange network reachability information across the global Internet. Is a path vector protocol that allows each autonomous system to override distance-based metrics with policy-based metrics when selecting one (BGP) best route for ASBGP. When organizing a group of autonomous systems that define policies independently, it is quite possible that BGP can result in protocol swings that can not converge on a stable route.
