1992年12月7日上午,在辽宁省辽阳县小屯镇梅花岭的断桥西侧太子河里,发现一具无头无手女尸。尸体已高度腐败,从骨盆处脱解为两段,搁浅于靠近南岸的河滩上。在断桥南端西侧2米处的太子河里,打捞出颅骨。尸体上穿兰地金黄花夹袄,衣兜内有一把暗锁钥匙。下穿黑色涤卡罩裤,内穿棉裤。尸体上有蛹壳附着。经检验,尸体衣着无破损,骨骼无损伤,无骨折。根据死者穿着夹袄棉裤分析,其死亡时间应为1991年入冬以后。那么,死者是自己溺水死亡,还是被他人杀害?看来要想弄清案件性质,还得从尸体入手。于是,我们又重新对尸体进行了检验。尸体上身穿的花夹袄,后背部有一块面积为20×30厘米的褐色污迹;下身穿的罩裤上附有黄色物质,膝窝以下裤腿部位附着量较多,粘附力强。虽然在水中浸泡,仍不易脱落。经过检验,认定褐色污迹为铁锈,黄色物质系黄泥。从尸体附着物的来源入手,对断桥上游河道作了考察。河水由东向西流淌,由于是枯水期,水位低,大部河床裸露,河水流速较慢,清澈见底。河道中布满鹅卵石和沙粒,根本不存在铁锈和黄泥。通过访问群众了解到,该桥虽然是座废桥,但并不僻静,当地人经常到河里捉鱼,如河中漂有尸体,也早已被发现。这说明,尸体既不是上游漂来,也不是水底浮出,而是被掩藏后移到河里来的。显然这是一起杀人案件,而移尸人与本案有直接关系,移尸时间,是在近一、二日内。
