Epic is based on William Joyce’s children book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. The film describes a battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and evil， and tells a story of a teenage girl who finds herself shrunken （缩小的） down in a secret world， where she must assist （援助） a team of fun and whimsical （古怪的） characters known as the Leaf Men， in a war against forces of evil to save their world， which also saves the real world.
