Fe3O4 suspension, derived from chemical co-precipitation and subsequent ultra-sonic treatment, was embedded into calcium alginate to form complex gel. Both gel beads and in-jectable gel floc were obtained by slightly tailoring the preparation condition. SEM analysis showed that the iron oxide was dispersed homogenously in nanometer. TGA profiles revealed that the content of Fe3O4 in beads was about 7.2%.
