北京国际汉字研究会徐德江副会长应加拿大多伦多大学远东系中文教授王志庄和于春华的邀请,1992年11月19日和12月3日先后两次为该校中文教师作了“关于汉字的科学性易学性”学术报告。11月15日《世界日报》专题作了报导并刊发了徐德江先生的照片。加拿大的汉浯教学,长期以来,受台湾的汉语教学影响较大。徐德江先生的学术演讲是以新的普通语言学文字学理论和广泛的实验新成果着重阐释了汉字本身结构所固有的科学性和由此产生的汉字易学性,使与会学者深感兴趣。多伦多大学心理学系泰勒教授特别邀请徐德江先生于12月4日专题讲述幼儿识字问题。泰勒教授认为,中国大陆的幼儿识字研究,现在比日本和美国的识字研究更系统更深入了。她要求她的研究生与徐德江先生多多联系,开展有关的实验。常年订阅《汉字文化》杂志的吴小燕女土因去美国,没听到徐先生的演
At the invitation of Wang Zhizhuang, a professor of Chinese at the Far East Department of Canada’s University of Toronto, and Xu Chunhua at the invitation of Beijing Institute of International Chinese Characters, Xu Dejiang, the Chinese Institute of Chinese Character Studies, twice successively invited Chinese teachers at the school on November 19 and December 3, 1992, Scientific and easy to learn Chinese character “academic report. The theme of the ”World Journal“ was reported on November 15 and a photo of Mr. Xu Dejiang was published. Han’s teaching in Canada has long been greatly influenced by Chinese teaching in Taiwan. Mr. Xu Dejiang’s scholarly speech focused on the scientific nature inherent in the structure of Chinese characters and the resulting ease-learning of Chinese characters with a new general linguistics and philology and a series of new experimental results, which made the participating scholars deeply interested. Prof. Taylor, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, specially invited Mr. Xu Dejiang to give a speech on the issue of early childhood literacy on December 4. Professor Taylor believes that the study of early childhood literacy in Mainland China is now more systematic and in-depth than the literacy studies in Japan and the United States. She asked her graduate students to get in touch with Mr. Xu Dejiang and carry out relevant experiments. Ms. Wu Xiaoyan, who has been subscribing to ”Chinese Culture" magazine all the year round, went to the United States and did not hear the performance of Mr. Xu
