历年来,同学常反映“高等代数”难懂,尤其是讲到近世代数基本概念(群、环、域等),几乎每届同学都感到既抽象又乏味。学习上级关于教改的一系列指示,特别是毛主席对教育工作的指示后,我们决心解决这个“老、大、难”问题。在毛主席思想指导下,对教学方法作了些改进,情现有了转变。现在,又讲到过去一向被认为最难学、最抽象的“群”、“环”、“域”了,同学们并不感到很难,而且有不少同学说:“代数课比过去容易了,学得有味道了。”虽然,这个从“难”到“易”、从“乏味”到“有味”的转变,还只是初步的,但却使我们从实践中领悟到一条最根本的道理,这就是:老老实实按毛主席的指示办事,就的确能有所发现,有所前进。总结这一段摸索过程,我们的主要作法是:依靠《矛盾论》、《实践论》作指导,根据教材特点,按照认识规律,注意了以下几个关系的处理。

To sum up this process of exploration, our main approach is: rely on “contradiction”, “practice” as a guide, according to the characteristics of teaching materials, according to the law of cognition, pay attention to the following relationship handling.
