1882-1898年期间由Caroline M.Hewins开端的儿童阅读发展的八个报告是记载美国图书馆儿童服务专业化发展历程难得的历史资料。八报告确立了以定性和定量相结合的图书馆调研模式,开创了图书馆界合作的良好风尚。因为八个报告的撰写者均为女性,因此一定程度上也确立了女性馆员在美国儿童图书馆事业发展史上的重要地位。八报告成为人们了解1876~1900年美国图书馆儿童服务事业发展情况的宝贵史料。
Eight reports on the development of children’s reading that began with Caroline M. Hewins during 1882-1989 were a rare historical source of the specialized development of children’s services in the United States Library. The eight-year report establishes a library research model that combines qualitative and quantitative methods and opens up a good atmosphere for cooperation among the library community. As the authors of the eight reports were all female, they also established to some extent the important role of female librarians in the history of the American children’s library. The eight reports have become a valuable historical material for people to understand the development of the children’s services in the U.S. Library from 1876 to 1900.
