好多同志已经发表了电视连续剧《围城》的观后感,认为在小说名著的电视剧改编中,这是较为出色的一部。我很同意这个评价,而且认为,就这部电视连续剧的改编进行一番探讨,也许对“改编艺术”本身的规律有进一步的认识。一我们不妨这么理解:小说名著的电视剧改编,也是一种语言对于另一种语言的翻译。因此,把小说《围城》搬上荧屏,就象小说《围城》译成外国文字出版,就整体而言,难免会有所减色。我曾把《围城》的俄译本与原著粗略地作过对照,发现俄译本里有些“词不达意”的地方。这种性质的“漏译”,原因倒不是译者不理解原文,而是因为他实在无法用俄文来传达原文的奥妙。电视剧《围城》也有类似这样的“漏译”。电视剧第一集的内容与小说第一章相合,但电视剧里明显地少了一个情节——船到西贡,方鸿渐和鲍小姐
