Peridot is one of the most important minerals in the kimberlite and one of the symbiotic minerals of diamond. The infrared spectra of the olivine phenocrysts / xenocrysts in the kimberlite have complex and diverse OH absorption peaks, reflecting their mantle-derived chemical composition, final equilibrium conditions, and source differences. From this, this seems to suggest that the use of olivine OH infrared spectral characteristics, can be effectively used to determine the kimberlite diamond mineralization.
